Overview

While the premedical career pathway can be overwhelming and challenging, pursuing a career in medicine can be greatly rewarding.  The key is to understand the process well and to then create your own path to best navigate this process.

A group of us in Student Clinical Opportunities for Premedical Experience (S.C.O.P.E.) realized that there is no single "Premed Online Resource" to obtain current information on the different topics surrounding the premedical process and medical career and thus the PCPR, or Premedical Career Pathway Research, project was born.

Mission Statement

We aim to establish a central collection of material to inform premedical students about the premedical process - from academic and laboratory research, to clinical and international health experience, to the medical school application process, to choosing your medical specialty.

We aim to:

• Educate students in the realities of medical careers by exploring economics, politics, academics, current events, and lifestyle as they relate to medicine.
• Provide students with the educational tools to make informed decisions about future career paths, especially regarding the pursuit of a career in medicine.
• Expel pre-med myths developed during undergraduate education with updated facts from credible sources.
• Promote the maximization of students' potential and time through early exposure to medical internships and opportunities for self-reflection in order to make conscious decisions about pursuit of a career in medicine relative to life goals.
